Emer. Prof. Sir Gustav Nossal AC
Gus Nossal has scaled the peaks of his profession. At 34 he became the Director of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute and continued to make a remarkable contribution to science and improving the lives of countless people around the world.
Knighted in 1977, he was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in 1989 and has received numerous other honours worldwide. In 2000 he was awarded the honour of Australian of the Year.
Sir Gustav is also involved in community work as Deputy Chairman of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation; Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Global Foundation and Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Council for the Bill and Melinda Gates Children's Vaccine Program, USA.
