Fiona Smith
Fiona brings more than 20 years legal and governance experience across Federal and State tribunals, government agencies, and the not-for-profit sector to her role as Chairperson of the Equal Opportunity Commission. She also has extensive experience in social justice and disability issues, and has been an accredited mediator since 1997. Fiona has been an advocate for social justice and human rights issues in paid and voluntary roles, previously working with organisations such as the Brotherhood of St Laurence and Australian Council of Social Services.
Fiona has a Bachelor of Arts and Laws as well as a Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution and Judicial Administration from the University of Melbourne, and in 2003 was awarded a Centenary Medal for contribution to the Victorian Justice system.
