In 2011, global hamburger giant McDonald's lodged a planning application for a 24-hour outlet with drivethrough in Tecoma. More than half the towns population objected and the local council unanimously rejected the proposal.

But that didn't stop Maccas. This is the extroadinary story of what happened next.
